Shelli Oh is an Indonesian–Canadian designer of high-end luxury womenswear and menswear collections, created to inspire joy and a touch of whimsy by enticing the senses and evoking enchantment through design. The collections imagine elaborate ‘tactile landscapes’ with hand sewn details, rich textures and jewelled trims that elevate the pieces beyond just clothing, creating an ethereal, wearable art experience…

her story

since her debut collection in the fall of 1997, shelli oh has been acclaimed by critics as the womenswear designer synonymous with the words precious, feminine and ethereal. over the years, the collection's delicate charm and signature prettiness has touched the hearts of women across north america.

an alumni of ryerson university's bachelor fashion design / manufacturing program, oh was offered a prominent position with new york fashion designer betsey johnson upon completing her education. after a successful year in new york, oh returned to toronto to launch the harebell label.

the harebell collections met with rapid success both in canada and across the US. the overwhelming demand by american retailers resulted in an expansion to over 70 boutiques across the united states in just its third season. for two consecutive years, oh was honored as one of six designers in ontario, and 25 designers nationally, to become a matinee fashion foundation grant recipient in recognition for her excellence in design.

as the label evolved, the harebell moniker was eventually dropped, with the collections moving forward simply under the 'shelli oh' label, forging new perspective and life into a line that continues to inspire and delight.

her passion

in addition to an inherent passion for all things creative, shelli is also emphatically passionate about making an impact and giving back; in striving to be as active as possible in raising funds and awareness for the causes close to her heart, oh hopes to spread the kind of love and kindness that she credits for getting her through difficult times and to where she is today.

one of the causes most dear to her heart is local toronto non-profit 'the redwood', whose tireless efforts and programs help women and children to live entirely free from domestic abuse. aside from offering a safe haven for victims of domestic abuse, the redwood also offers programs, counselling and other initiatives to help rebuild lives in the aftermath, which is often the most difficult part - leaving an abusive situation is just the first step. organizations like the redwood provide the support and love to overcome the obstacles that follow...
